In the spring, I love to do activities around a frog theme!
I usually start by playing the song 5 Little Speckled Frogs.
Then, we act out the song, using frog cut-outs, a log, a pool, and a number line. This works on:
- Counting and 1:1 correspondence
- Following directions
- Labeling and identifying
- Adjectives, such as speckled, cool, little, green, delicious, open
- Action words such as jump, sit, eat
- Prepositions such as on, off
Next, we “feed” the frog by putting bugs into a frog made out of a parmesan cheese container. This is a great opportunity to work on following directions and adjectives. Here are some examples:
- Open the frog’s mouth
- Fed the frog a bug with black spots.
- Find a bug with wings.
- Do you see a bug with his tongue out?
Kids can also practice asking for “more” bugs!
Here are all the materials you need to do this lesson!
